the art of lifting our eyes up.

CLINICAL THERAPY

I see clinical therapy as the cornerstone for ultimate integration, embodiment, and alignment. Healing from the past and working to understand the ways in which we’ve been formed is almost always integral in the act of pressing forward, fiercely and wholly, into a new future.

In clinical therapy, we’ll work together to lift your eyes up. I’ll be there to help you search for all the ways you can heal, now that you’re ready to see and consider them.

THE NITTY-GRITTY

Through a lens of introspective conversation driven at revealing and demystifying the experiences that make up your past, I bring in modalities including Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (Parts Work/IFS), and Compassionate Inquiry (a la Gabor Mate), all aimed at helping you to feel, understand, and heal more fully. In our conversations, I work to mirror the progress you’re making back to you—to remind you of how far you’ve come, all the ways in which you’ve surprised yourself and made us both proud of your growth—and work to highlight the ways in which you can integrate both learning and unlearning into your time spent as a human being, forming healthier and more-sustainable patterns.

Like the services I offer beyond clinical therapy—services that refuse to put clients in the position of stopping short in their ongoing growth and self-learning—clinical therapy with me never stops at mere consideration or reflection. We’ll parlay your progress into the practice of integrating your work into your life. Together, we’ll work to put you back together. Together, we’ll ask of you:

Now that I’ve learned about myself and the tools available to me, how will I take this new information and apply it practically? How can I enact what I’ve learned about myself and my patterns in an effort to break them, paying attention to how the process feels, and remaining open to forming new, healthier, more-nurturing patterns?

While it’s not a hard and fast rule that clinical therapy is a prerequisite to services like clarity workshops or therapeutic writing group, we should think of clinical therapy as the foundation upon which the rest of your journey will unfold.

If we spend the time to do the work of healing and rebuilding now, we can remain true to the goals and emotional exploration we’ll embark upon further on. When it comes to coaching in particular, experience in clinical therapy is key:

In order to run dead-sprint in the direction of the future, it’s imperative that we are no longer tangled up in the past.

It gets to be good.

To begin or continue clinical therapy is a tenacious decision we make for ourselves: To hold space for committing to the practice of healing is a beautiful, world-bending thing. Therapy begs the question: What might happen if I tend to the pieces of myself that crave and deserve tenderness? What might happen if I learn to open myself up, position myself so I’m able to see just how delicious, how wonderful—just how good it all could be?

IS IT ABOUT TIME THINGS GOT YUMMY?

As you begin (or continue) your therapy journey, it’ll be important that you and I feel aligned and in harmony with one another before we embark upon this work together. We’ll get things started with an initial consult call—and if we both feel good, we’ll move forward.
