VULNERABILITY, MEET CREATIVITY.
THERAPEUTIC WRITING GROUP
Each of us is born into this world drenched in the fact of life, in the fact of our own visceral humanity. Just as we’re born with blood pumping through our physical bodies, so are we born with the need to process, to express, to bleed. Even in some small, safe, beautiful way.
That’s where therapeutic writing group comes in.
A 6-week group course throughout which we’ll practice somatic grounding and explore various points of inspiration, therapeutic writing group enables our innate creativity to become an outlet through which we can invite deeper thinking and experiencing, both retrospectively and as we delve further and further into our futures. In the act of leaning back, of space-holding, we open ourselves up to creativity, to whatever might occur at the intersection of inspiration and vulnerability.
Not a service pointed only (or even primarily) at those who identify de facto as “Writer”—but instead, at any who wonder what might happen if they were to dust off their curiosities, listen to the creative voice that emanates from within as much as our own heartbeat does, that drives our existence just as much.
In therapeutic writing group, we’re not gearing ourselves up to motivate through a particular project or creation: We’re working on the act of being inspired, toward opening ourselves up while lying in wait of whatever it is we may encounter within the creative act of cerebral and spiritual exploration.
Birthed from transformative personal experiences accessed through the modalities of creativity and writing, I believe deeply, fiercely in the benefits of therapeutic writing group. I’ve watched in awe more than once as the practice of creating and being open to inspiration as it takes hold. I’ve been transformed by the act, been invited to step into a higher-level of being, just by way of creating, of framing my experiences through an artistic lens, through inspiration, through the deeper-inquiry that writing and creation asks of us.
Neither therapy nor writing workshop—and in the same breath, a bit of both—in therapeutic writing group, you’ll consider plainly what it means to create, to think, to share, to feel.
In the words of Julia Cameron, patron saint and creator of The Artist’s Way—
“Creativity flourishes when we have a sense of safety and self-acceptance.”
What might happen for you when you invite creativity to join a space we’ve curated for safety, for self-knowing and self acceptance?
(I’ll tell you: I know the answer, and it’s all so, so juicy.)
